Our Marshmallow Sofa is inspired after American designer Irving Harper's design from 1954 (though it is often misattributed to George Nelson, whose company the designer worked at). Inspired by new manufacturing capabilities that could produce individually skinned foam discs, Harper created a sofa around that concept, giving the sofa its nickname of "Marshmallow" for the uniquely shaped discs that comprise its structure. At once sculpture and furniture, this is a truly unique piece that continues to fascinate today.
