In 1949, architect and designer Finn Juhl designed the Chieftains Chair, and it was quickly heralded as a masterpiece of Danish design. In contrast to traditional chairs, Juhl created a leather seat and back liberated from the frame of the chair, and they appear to float as if suspended over the frame.
